HI @wageneck,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with your HP Envy Inspire printer. Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue of being stuck on "validating please wait."

Step 1: Hard Reset the Printer

  1. Turn Off the Printer: Press the power button to turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the Printer: Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
  3. Wait: Leave the printer unplugged for at least 60 seconds.
  4. Plug Back In: Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.

Step 2: Check Ink Cartridges

  1. Remove the Cartridges: Open the printer and carefully remove the ink cartridges.
  2. Inspect the Cartridges: Ensure there are no protective tapes or stickers covering the electrical contacts or nozzles on the cartridges.
  3. Clean the Contacts: Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to gently clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer where the cartridges are installed.
  4. Reinsert the Cartridges: Reinsert the cartridges, ensuring they click into place properly.

Step 3: Check for Firmware Updates

  1. Connect to Wi-Fi: Make sure your printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network.
  2. Check for Updates: Go to the HP support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP Envy Inspire printer.
  3. Download and Install Updates: Follow the instructions on the HP website to download and install any available firmware updates.

Step 4: Reset Printer Settings

  1. Access Settings Menu: From the printer’s control panel, navigate to the settings or setup menu.
  2. Restore Factory Defaults: Find and select the option to restore factory defaults or perform a reset. Confirm any prompts to proceed with the reset.

Step 5: Reconfigure the Printer

  1. HP Smart App: Download and install the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
  2. Set Up the Printer: Open the HP Smart app and follow the on-screen instructions to set up your printer again.

Step 6: Check Printer Connections

  1. Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer or mobile device.
  2. USB Connection: If using a USB connection, ensure the cable is securely connected to both the printer and your computer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
