Ever since the new HP Firmware was installed which disabled using my Refilled Original HP Cartridges, I went and purchased a 3rd Party Ink Cartridge due to other Users saying it was working with the new HP Firmware.
Installed it and all the usual HP Counterfeit warning popped up and disappeared after acknowledging them. Then while testing the printer out with the new 3rd party cartridge, in the middle of printing I got the fatal error that "The Printer or Ink System has problems. To turn off and unplug printer and turn back on" type of message.
Turned off printer and remove power cable and waited a couple of minutes, re-plugged printer's power cable and turned on with the same fatal error message.
So I went and purchased a new original HP 951 Yellow cartridge, the one that is showing depleted, and everything looked good and then about a couple of minutes later the same Fatal HP printer error came up which completely disables the printer from working.
So I need to know if that fatal Printer error can be removed by somehow resetting the Firmware on the printer in case the 3rd Party chip data hasn't be erased from the printer's memory or data chip.
But when I run the HP Firmware it doesn't show a way to re-install the HP Firmware again. I am hoping by re-installing the HP Firmware will fix the fatal printer error.
EDIT: Followed the advice of one User with the same warning (previous old thread) and followed his procedure to fix the error message. The fatal error seems to have gone away but now I keep getting that the new HP Yellow ink cartridge is damaged. To replace it.
This after removing power cord and printhead ( which I got the opportunity to clean) and reinstalled all the Ink cartridges in sequence.
After doing so, I clicked on the printer's warning to align the printer which I am doing at the moment. It stopped once with the yellow cartridge damage error again but pressed the Home icon and now it is continuing to align the printer.
But it never finished. When I hit "cancel" it went back to the yellow cartridge being damaged and to replace it. Under Ink status it shows the correct Ink cartridge that I bought and installed.
Does this indicate that the Printhead is damaged?
It seems like any Yellow Print cartridge I install generates the same damaged HP warning. Any way to see if the printhead where the Yellow cartridge goes is damaged or reset the printhead?
The printhead pins on the yellow cartridge are not bent or damaged.

Thank God my HP Officejet Pro 8620 printer started working normally again with the Yellow cartridge and a newly refilled Black cartridge.
First I had the fatal Printer error after using a 3rd party cartridge. That took a long time to get rid of. That was done by:
1- Removed all 4 cartridges and Printhead.
2-Installing the printhead back again and installing all 4 cartridges in sequence.
3-turning off power and removing power cord and turning printer back on again.
After that the fatal Printer error disappeared and now I was getting HP Error message Damaged Yellow cartridge error even with a brand new Original Ink Cartridge.
Tried cleaning contacts and re-powering the printer to no effect.
Then the last procedure I did which didn't work until today while I was looking for a Non-HP printer replacement was:
1-Removed all 4 ink cartridges and removed Printhead.
2-Used Compressed Air from a can and injected in into the Yellow Ink Input tubing. This caused all the ink to come out from the Print nozzle. I did this in case the 3rd Party cartridge clogged the tube with a tiny piece of tape that was used by the 3rd party company to prevent ink from flowing out from the installed Yellow Ink Cartridge.
3-Clean the Printhead Nozzle with warm to hot water and dried it with a Hair dryer before installing it.
4-Installed the Printhead and all 4 ink cartridges in sequence. Replaced the Black with a newly refilled Black (Start Set Cartridge)
Didn't fix the problem. Yellow Ink Cartridge is damaged and needs to be replaced. Left the Printer on for a little more than a day as is.
While trying to find other troubleshooting tips and looking to replace my Printer with a new Non-HP Printer via the internet I removed the Yellow Ink Cartridge (new) and physically checked the Printhead Yellow Pins to see if any were bent. To do so I needed to remove the large Black cartridge. Everything looked good so installed the Yellow Ink cartridge and then the Black cartridge.
All of a sudden I started to get HP used cartridge errors. Clicked yes and then all the messages disappeared and the Yellow is showing completely full. Printed out the report and I was stunned that it started to print out the page. I then went to my computer and I saw reused HP Ink cartridges warnings for all four Ink Cartridges. Clicked yes and after that Printed a Diagnostic page and cleaned the Printhead twice using the HP app on my Desktop.
The page printed out like it had all new Ink Cartridges installed.
So yes, it was a miracle and as before Thank you Lord. I believe leaving the printer on with the new yellow cartridge somehow caused whatever error the 3rd party cartridge CHIP created in the printer to reset and finally accept my HP ink cartridges again. Even though it is still seeing my brand new Yellow as reused. But at least it is working and showing the proper level of ink for a new cartridge.
Maybe the Printer finally communicated with HP Server and the HP Server was able to correct the corrupt printer data from the 3rd party cartridge.
