My HP officejet 4655 print doesn't turn on. Windows 8.1 64bit. I Replaced Internal AC Power Supply module (F0V63-60012). As I looked at the control panel screen and plugged into wall there was a a screen flash only. Printer still does not turn on. Is the screen flash a code for troubleshooting, what does it mean? Is there a tech repair manual? The power switch board connects to the LCD screen board and it to the inside of the printer. How do I troubleshoot or test the power switch board for an open circuit if its the problem?
Owners Must Read:
I know how to build and fix computers and I am sure owners are not afraid to explore or make sense of the inerts of your electronic equipment. This repair could easily been fix by the non techie but HP has made this difficult. Thank god for Youtube videos. Read on what I went through.
I disconnected power cords and reattached after 30 secs. Also tried leaving it disconnected overnight. Plugged into wall. Does not turn on. Its the only free fix to try by an owner. I know it could be the external AC Power Supply Adaptor. Opps. It seems now HP has been selling printers with it internaly now for some years; access is blocked! The black square box is called an AC power supply module. Its now harder for owners to fix this kind of power supply problem that use to cost $10 to $30 to fix. There is no access or door panel for users to fix things. Printers are now designed this way. The Next step is to do an internet search for the AC power supply module part; I got nothing. I asked HP parts/support. Regardless if out of warrenty they should be able to tell you the part number and where to buy. With the printer model, HP said they cant find no part listing on their system. They didn't try further research or ask a third party. HP only tried and suggested to buy a new HP printer.
Only one HP certified repair center helped find me the AC Power Supply model number (listed on this post). The service repair person was shocked about the HP response. It was obvious to the agent that HPs goal is to make users purchase another HP printer.
A new officejet All in one printer with all features hopefully with hardware Faxing included maybe cost $200 to $500 dollars versus fixing or extending the life of your current printer for a $10 to $30 purchase for the AC power supply. Another expensive option is the cost of taking it to a HP Certified Repair Center at a cost of $150 to $200 for the part and labor, it's crazy!
NOTE: Beware of Marketing tactics from trusted brand companies controlling software and hardware merchandise with experation dates or worse with electronicly set timebombs like with power supplies, software/hardware and firmware. Including tactics like the denial of user/owner rights to DIY repair by sealing of access and being forced to go to service centers where techs and mechanics prey on consumers with expensive price quotes. If it happens with a brand then they are doing it to all their merchandise.
Test it. If you buy something new and it was released 3 to 6 months ago on the market and you find out you can't even repair, replace or order some part yourself. Something as simple as a battery or power supply just to extend its life and save some money, then something is wrong.
Even a Samsung Smart TV or any Brand you paid hundreds or thousands for can turn into a dumb TV when lots of Apps are removed during an upgrade/update on the TV (eg. paid subscription like Hulu, free games or native features).
It is like this with our phones, laptops, Smart TVs, and now what, computers and printers! Expiration dates on Baby car seats and carriages. Then what's next, our automobiles too!

Thank you for that suggestion. Going to HP Support is the only choice give after what I explained I did in my post with the kind of help HP Support gave me, it sure isnt the out of warranty or free support kind, but the expensive path to buy a new printer or service it.
Anyone else, has a fix or solution on what it could be or to try after I purchased the illusive internal AC power module, desmantalled and installed it into the printer. Thank you.
