I purchased new HP color ink. I installed as usual, but the printer kept telling me that there was a problem with the yellow. It said it was either missing or damaged. I bought another pack of ink and put a new yellow in and got the same issue. I took all the cartridges out and put them back in and the error went away, however, now, when i print, it will not use the yellow. If i look at ink levels, its also telling me that other colors are extremely low, when they are all brand new.

I've tried all troubleshooting tips i found online and it still will not print with the yellow. beyond frustrated at this point. please help!

@wgrecco1676 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are unable to print the yellow color.

Please let us know if you are able to make the color photocopy.

Are you using HP genuine ink cartridges?

The printhead could be clogged, and you might need to clean the printhead several times to restore print quality. Use an automated tool from the printer control panel to clean the printhead.

   CAUTION:

Never turn off the printer when ink cartridges are not installed. To avoid issues that require cleaning the printhead or that can damage the ink system, always replace ink cartridges as soon as possible, and always turn off the printer using the Power button.

  1. From the printer control panel, open the Setup  menu.

  2. Open the Printer Maintenance menu.

  3. If necessary, open the Tools menu, and then touch Clean Printhead.

    A test page prints.

  4. Examine the test page.

    • If the print quality is unacceptable, touch Clean Again to continue the next level of cleaning. If necessary, repeat these steps for the third cleaning cycle.
