I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post serial numbers and case details.

If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, this post has instructions.

Thanks! The HP8620 began as a great printer.  My wife was so happy with its capabilities.  In contrast, the firmware is stupid, constantly telling her to replace cartridges, particularly the majenta one.  In the old days (I'm an old guy, as is my easily-confused-by-technology wife), inkjets could be refilled with a syringe.  Now I'm not sure there is a rubber plug to open the cartridge, a reservoir to refill, or even a legal option to own a syringe.  Likewise replacement chips and machine-appropriate toner were once available for used laser cartridges.  It would be nice if HP sold ink by the pint and some baster/syringe device to transfer the ink to the cartridge.  For instance, a Garmin heartrate monitor requires electrode gel, so I buy a $20 gallon of medical-quality gel at the phamacy and the gallon so far has lasted a lifetime.  My car requires 30W oil, so I go to a garage that buys oil by the drum, and have them transfer the oil into my crankcase.  My car has over 100,000 miles and does not ever see Daimler-brand oil.

Good Morning Omar,

Thank you for your follow-up.

It would beneficial to all concerned if HP addressed this frustrating issue. It is also good to know that HP has some monitoring of discussions on this forum thereby bringing issues such as this to the attention of the appropriate team or employee within HP

Kind Regards

The post here indicates the new firmware is now available for download that addresses some cartridge rejection issues..

Thank you!

Finally a solution to a very frustrating issue and just in time because I was about to retrun my printer to HP and demand a refund and by a Cannon that does not yet have these issues.

That would be a shame as I have been a loyal user of HP printers for more than 28 years and PC and Laptops for many years and have usually found their support and reliability excellent.

Goes to show what a stupid and rediculous decision by HP can do to a companies reputation. It only takes one to destroy all the great work of a reputation built up over many years.

Thankfully, someone with a degree of common sense within HP took the correct decision and issued this update to overcome this issue.

Just hope that this is a permanent fix and that HP has permanently come to their senses for the sake of their customers and their reputation.

This is the solution but where is the "Accept as Solution" button gone? Can't ake a screen shot and post it as there does not appear to be an option for such actions??

Thanks for information on the new firmware. If needed, I'll load it. But so far, every time Windows tries to install the HP update, the firmware fails to install. I assume the firmware is designed to work best with Windows 1 or possibly Vista, but it surely does nothing with Windows 10. The HP latest firmware won't load on a Windows 10 laptop.

That is probaly good. Although if you encounter any issues with non genuine cartridges, I can confirm this firmware update does resolve issues with the ink reporting as broken etc.

I congratulate HP on listening to their customers and I hope it is not too late to bring back all those totally pissed off HP printer users. I have no doubt that HP have done themselves irrepairable harm with this practice.

Thanks Omar.

It is now July 2017 and the HP is rejecting all my cartridges. All the cartridges are new, with new chips. The HP8620 is too dumb to discern which cartridge it doesn't like, just says one or more is bad. Again, they are all new. Can you fix my HP8620 again?

I take the cartridges out, replace. I turn off the HP8620 and then turn on. No simple solution works. In the short run, my wife is connecting wirelessly to my Brother LED, but I would like to get her back on her HP8620 if you can get her printer to recognize her new cartridges.

Do you have your printer connected to the internet?

If so the problem arrises due to HP updates that report all non genuine cartridges as FAULTY.

After many complaints to HP they released a file that stopped this from happening.

If you are using NON GENUINE INKS this is the article that points you in the irght direction to overcome this frustration:

Follow the instructions to run this program and you should now be fine.
