I have a HP photo smart 5510 that has stopped printing Black. I did start using a no name ink cartridges and it was working fine until recently. I removed cartridge and install genuine HP cartridge. I performed all items in tools menu. I also did all steps to clean printer head. NOTHING SEEMS TO WORK. The printer is about 8 years old but not over used. Is it time to be replaced??

Hi @jackmags,
If you have already performed the steps from the document Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.
Please reach out to HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.
If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.
Hope this helps!

Hi Jay, Thanks for the response. After trying several attempts to repair my 5510 I have decided to replace the printer with a new office jet 3830.
My question now is do I need to uninstall the installation programs for the 5510 off my computer before installing the new printer??

It is not mandatory to uninstall the printer software, If you would like to uninstall the software follow the below steps-
--->In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
--->Select your HP printer.
--->Select Uninstall.
--->In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
--->In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
--->Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
--->Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
--->Click on the Drivers tab.
--->Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.
--->Select OK.
--->Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
--->Close Devices and Printers.
Keep me posted!
