HP Officejet 8600
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I have two Officejet Pro 8600 Printers, which have performed flawlessly until a few weeks ago, when we started getting printhead errors on the office printer. After speaking with a representative, who told me that parts were not available, I reluctantly ordered another printer, which I will say, has been good thus far. However, within a few weeks of that, my home printer has also given me printhead errors. TWO of them? Within a few weeks? Is this planned obsolescence? Does the printhead have a timed auto-destruct on it? I doubt that very many people would ever suspect any issues, but since I have two of them that developed the exact same problem in a very short time frame, I am very unhappy about it. This just seems too closely linked time wise, to be a coincidence. Additionally, to add to my suspicions of planned obsolescence, is that my computer tech had to replace a printhead in the past few weeks.  REALLY?!!! Several years ago, I bought an HP printer that was not used much, and it refused to print when it deemed that the inkjets were "expired", even if they were new and full of ink. I believe that was the subject of a lawsuit. That printer sits, unused.
I have owned many HP products, but these kinds of issues, that put profits ahead of productivity, are troubling.
Now, I will either throw away another large piece of electronics (certainly NOT earth friendly), and buy yet another printer in less than a month, or I will pay c. $150 plus shipping for a printhead. Neither are options that I find appealing, and I detest having to consider other manufacturers in the future.

Hi, TEJ1602.  I have the same basic issue as PBroadfoot.  I have two HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus printers, and within weeks, the printhead of each printer failed.  I don't use these printers heavily, so I was surprised to see them fail back to back.  I guess I have the same question: Is this planned obsolescence?  I love the 8600 printer(s), but am very disappointed in the error occurring on both printers within such a short period of time.  I like HP products, but am disappointed in this case.
