HP ENVY 6020 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

My Envy 6020 printer normally has a soft glow of light when in operation. It is turned on all the time. The problem is that I found it had a strong orange glow of light. I turned the printer off. Now it doesn't go when I turn it on.

Hi @NEILPX,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The strong orange light on your HP Envy 6020 printer usually indicates an error or alert. Since the printer is now unresponsive after turning it off, here are a few steps to troubleshoot.

Power Reset:

  • Unplug the printer from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and press the power button to turn it on.

Check the Power Source:

  • Ensure the outlet you are using is functional. Try plugging the printer into a different outlet.
  • If you are using a surge protector, try plugging it directly into the wall.

Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect all cables from the printer, including the power cord.
  • Hold down the Power button for 15-20 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord and try turning the printer on again.

Check for Blockages:

  • Open the printer and check for any paper jams, stuck carriage, or obstructions inside the printer that might prevent it from powering on properly.

Firmware Reset (if possible):

  • If the printer turns on, check for any firmware updates using the HP Smart app or the HP website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Alden4, thankyou very much for your advice. I had already done much of what you suggested and to my surprise it worked. Turning off the on/off switch on the printer didn't work. I then unplugged the printer power cord and the USB Ethernet cord from the computer. It worked.
