My HP printer is showing offline - although it is not offline because wireless light is showing - and I cannot print.   The Print and Scan Doctor has tried to find the device but keeps coming up with Scan Only printer which has only recently appeared with my real printer when trying to fix the problem.  I only have one printer which  indicates on it print, scan, copy, web.  I have tried to get the Virtual Agent chat but wait for half an hour and get no response.

One thing to check is what type of port the printer driver is configured for. On your computer, go to control panel>devices and printers and then right click on the icon for your printer and select printer properties from the drop down menu. Click on the ports tab and confirm that the printer is not using a WSD port as shown below.

The problem with WSD ports is that they do not always maintain connection. There are a couple of options to remedy this the quickest is to configure a Standard TCP/IP port for the driver.
