I just had one of the most unpleasant experiences in my life dealing with HP printers. I have been getting offline messages for the past year with my printer (4100). I always had to delete and reinstall it. I also had Instant Ink all that time. Finally, I was so fed up that I cancelled Instant Ink because I was going to buy someone else's printer. Now my printer is offline. I let the HP tech sign into my computer to solve the problem, after being online for an hour. The tech "Adam Smith" told me that because I no longer had instant ink, the printer would not work with my instant ink cartridges. I either had to go out and buy new HP cartridges at the store or re-enroll in instant ink. I gave in to the extortion and was going to re-enroll in instant ink, just to get printing going again. But then I was told that the existing instant ink cartridges were no longer valid, even though they still have plenty of ink left and that I would have to buy new ones that would arrive in a week. That was my limit. I will go to the store. But it will be to buy another printer. And my offline problem was never solved: with or without instant ink. I will never touch another HP product eve again.

Just got a second piece of news that the printer has to be 5 to 10 feet from the router. That is not documented in anything I have ever read. Since my router is built into my provider feed in my garage my options were to start working in the garage rather than my office of buy a new printer. I chose Epson.
