Hello Argonaut,

Please do not use the CD that came with the printer. Try downloading the drivers from hp.com to get the most updated drivers.

Yes, please try un-installing with the Revo & then try following the steps I suggested in the above post.

Cheers!

Sort of some good news.

After uninstall with Revo

I went into Registry and manually deleted the entries for Hewlett Packard and HP   in both HK current user/software and for all users.

In Services.msc

Windows installer was not started – I started it … but there is no automatic option … set to manual

RPC was also not started – started it and set to automatic

Print Spooler – was running and on automatic

Shell hardware detection – was running and on automatic

Used the downloaded software pack.  …. This time it did show option to ‘Install’   (not had that previously)  .. all went OK, got to screen where it asks you to choose what connection method …. Chose Wirless … after a pause … it failed with ‘no printer found’

I tried putting in IP address manually  (printer is connected to hub)   … no change I did go through printer Wireless connection wizard – and again it set up with 100% success – but PC still will not recognise printer  …. Get this :

No printer.jpg

I then tried the USB option but this also fails, it stayed ‘greyed out buttons’ no option for ‘Next’  so not seeing printer via USB.

I did try rebooting printer – no difference

So ran software again – this time selected uninstall option …..

It is still giving options for install which is good - install this time selecting USB connection.

It got as far as software installation complete .. and then  got this:

incomplete.jpg

After 20 mins it was still showing the same ....  had to quit using Task Manager

So currently back to no printing capability from this PC.

It did install HP solution Center on desk

Improvement –

I don't like to give up

Ran software pack again - selected uninstall

It failed and restarted PC – advised this is Windows 8 and installed a 'HP installation error tool all related to Windows 8  ( I have never had Windows 8 on this PC)

Anyway … followed steps …

Rebooted router

Rebooted printer

Started install of software again – this time as USB …. And it did complete.

Started software again and selected USB to Wireless and it completed this time ……….. Strange that at the end of the task I got again the window with never ending HP spinning wheel  .. after 10 minutes quit using task manager.

Printer is currently  working on Wireless.

It did install HP Solution Centre – but this is not working, if you try to start it …. Nothing happens for around 10 minutes … then you get this popup:

Sol C.jpg

After about another 10 mins get a window stating HP solution centre is not correctly installed please rerun installation software.

Hello Argonaut, Great job in trying out all those steps!!

I appreciate your patience and your will to find a solution. Really glad to know that the printer is now installed wirelessly and is able to print.

I did some digging regarding HP solution center not working in Win 10 and apparently there is some compatibility issue.

You can go through another HP forum thread http://hp.care/2bA4UhH for more information. There is a solution to uninstall one of the Microsoft security updates. Please check if interested.

I would suggest you to use applications like “HP scan and capture” as an alternate to HP solution center.

If you need further assistance, please feel free to reach out to us again. Have a great day!

Cheers 🙂

selection tool

Print head alignmnet & cleaning

printer toolbox

This are not in the Microsoft app

As to the other thread - took a look, this removal of a security update is nota good idea.

Several peoiple ther have asked for HP to fix this  (Flash exception)  can you put this forward for a fix ?

Hello @Argonaut,

I do understand there are few limitations on the other tool, but I hope, at least it helps you scan from your printer.

I will definitely keep an open eye for this issue and will let you know if anything comes up.

Cheers 🙂
