It's a great printer.  I like it, it works well, and I've recommended to people and I know of at least 1 person that bought it based solely on my recommendation.

But...........I'll never recommend HP again.  Nor will I buy HP again.

Some marketing genius at HP decided it would be a good idea to send out an upgrade which rendered my printer  useless as it suddenly no long would communicate with my off brand toner cartridges.  Turns out, even if I buy the over priced HP toner, it still doesn't work.

Why?

Cause now I have to go in and tell the printer its ok to back date an upgrade and then download the old upgrade and then tell the printer not to auto upgrade anymore.

I've done all of this and it still doesn't communicate with the overpriced HP toner.

The retail store Best Buy won't help unless I pay them.  HP says it's not a warranty issue.  Now I have to pay to get it working again.

I won't be paying Best Buy either.  I'll take it to an independent.

But HP should know and understand how stupid of an idea this was and that they've lost this customer forever.

Dumb move
