My HP4720 stopped in the middle of a scan job. The off/on button does not work in that when press the button, it doesn't say printer shutting down. However, the printer does start and then I get a message Printer Error - There is a problem with the Printer, Turn the printer off then on. Just before that there is a blue screen that shows for about a second with C4EB8447 displayed. I am not sure if that is an error code or what. When I push the off on button again, the printer automatically reboots and I get the same printer error message. I have tried unplugging the printer with no luck.
I'd appreciate any help.

Hi @SAVPrint ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP DeskJet Ink Advantage Ultra 4720 is experiencing a technical issue that is preventing it from functioning properly. The error message you're seeing along with the code "C4EB8447" indicates that there is indeed a problem with the printer.
Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
- Power Cycle: Unplug the power cord from the printer and wait for about 30 seconds. Then plug it back in and try turning the printer on again. Sometimes, a simple power cycle can resolve temporary issues.
- Reset: If power cycling doesn't work, try resetting the printer. To do this, locate the reset button on your printer (usually a small hole) and use a paperclip or similar tool to press and hold the button for about 10 seconds. After resetting, try turning the printer on again and see if the error persists.
- Firmware Update: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. You can usually check for firmware updates through the printer's settings menu or by visiting the HP support website and searching for your printer model.Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Check for Paper Jams: Even if you were scanning when the issue occurred, it's worth checking for any paper jams or obstructions inside the printer. Open the printer cover and carefully inspect the paper path for any stuck paper or debris.

I hope this helps.

Hi @SAVPrint ,
Thank you for your reply
- Restart the Printer: Since you've already tried unplugging the printer, try leaving it unplugged for a few minutes (around 5-10 minutes) before plugging it back in and turning it on again. This can sometimes reset the printer's internal settings and resolve minor issues.
- Update Printer Firmware/Drivers: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can usually update the firmware through the printer's settings menu or by visiting the HP support website and downloading the latest firmware for your specific printer model. - Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions: Open the printer's cover and check for any paper jams or foreign objects that may be obstructing the printer mechanism. Clear any jams or obstructions you find, and then try scanning again.
- Reset the Printer: Some HP printers have a reset option in the settings menu. Try resetting the printer to its factory defaults to see if that resolves the issue. Keep in mind that this will reset all settings on the printer, so you may need to reconfigure it afterward.
