The HP 5255 does not have an Ethernet port. How do I connect it (wired) to a university dorm Ethernet port so I can access HPInstaink? It will not connect to the wireless Ethernet because of the university security.

Hi,
Such an adapter will not allow instant ink to work, the printer cannot connect to HP's cloud service using any adaptor from a USB port but only through any of its native network capabilities.
If any adapter would be applicable, it will be more likely any network-related dongle such as an Ethernet to Wi-Fi bridge dongle but it may require some networking knowledge to configure it correctly, and there are more than good chances that a such will not be allowed by your university rules..
Also, ensure your university security rule does not block network connectivity to Hp Instant Ink Services, if they block such connectivity you will not be able to connect using Ethernet connection.
If they do allow such, you will likely need another printer model with built-in ethernet capabilities.

Hi
There are adapters....
suitable or otherwise I know not.
But is this a printer you are asking about, because HP 5255can refer to a notebook or desktop equally.
