My 8730 shows error code C4EB9647 and is almost impossible to clear or switch off. If I do clear it, it tells me that scanning and copying are not possible but continues to print well.

Hi @Alastair83,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Error codes on printers like the HP 8730 typically indicate specific issues with the device. Here's what you can try.
- Power Cycle: Turn off the printer completely, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 1-2 minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. Sometimes, this simple step can reset the printer's internal mechanisms and clear the error.
- Check for Paper Jams: Even if it continues to print, there might be a paper jam or some obstruction in the scanning or copying mechanisms that's triggering the error. Open all access doors and check for any jammed paper or foreign objects. Clear any jams carefully.
- Reset the Printer: Most printers have a reset option in their settings menu. Navigate through the menu on the printer's control panel to find the reset option and follow the prompts to reset the printer to its factory settings.
- Update Firmware/Drivers: Sometimes, firmware glitches can cause error codes. Check HP's website for any available firmware updates for your printer model and follow the instructions to update it. Also, ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer.
- Inspect for Hardware Issues: If the error persists, there might be a hardware issue with the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
