Hello all.

Im trying to save a printer from landfill and get it up and working again for my mother!

I've followed all steps online and done all tests, but when I print nothing at all comes out on the paper.

The ink test suggests two of the colours (purple and black) have run out, but the other two still have life in them.

I'd have hoped seeing this, that on a print test I would at least see something, even if just the two colours which still have ink (blue and yellow).

Now, I'm a bit reluctant to go and spend £25 ish on a couple of new cartridges, just in case the problem is something else and I have to end up chucking the printer away anyway.  Being left with 2 almost new cartridges which I'm never going to get my money back on.

Does anyone have any advise please?  Anything which sounds obvious?  Maybe the print head is gone?

Should I just save my time and chuck it away (I hate the throwaway society of now days!)

Thanks

It's time for a new printer. On that model when the printhead goes bad there is close to 0 chance it will print back fine again.

Is there a way to check if it is the print head?  Just to be sure etc?

When you print and the printer acts like it's printing but nothing comes out on the paper that is printhead 99% defective.

Ok that's a shame then, I assume they are just not cost effective to repair at this point then.

I'll recycle it.

thank you for the reply

We had the same printhead issue.  It was under warranty.  We complained.  HP sent us a brand new printer.  We were emphatic that usage of the original failing printer was critical due to a need to copy medical information for an ambulance.
