@annoyed6

Greetings!

Welcome to the HP Support Community. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries. I have reviewed your post and I understand, the printer is not printing in color.

This issue can occur due to various reasons like printer settings, updates, printer driver, ink cartridges... are to name a few.

Don't worry, I'm here to help! To better assist you -

1) Are you experiencing the same issue while making a copy as well?

2) Have you tried any troubleshooting steps before posting here?

While you respond to that, let's begin by print a print quality report -

1) On the printer control panel, swipe left on the display, and then touch Setup.
2) Touch Tools.
3) Swipe up on the display, and then touch Print Quality Report.

Examine the color blocks on the Print Quality Diagnostic page to make sure the color blocks do not show white lines and are not faded or missing.

  • If the print quality report looks fine, try step# 1 and 2.
  • If there are defects in the print quality report, try step# 3.

Step 1 HP Print and Scan Doctor -

Click on this link to download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor.

Step 2 Re-install the printer drivers -

1) In the search box, type and open "Uninstall a Program".
2) Look for HP Printer software.
3) Right-click to uninstall.
4) In the search box, type
and open “Devices and printers”.
5) In the Devices and Printers, look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose “Delete” or “Remove Device”.
6) Open the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”).
8) Click on the "Drivers" tab.
9) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click “Remove” at the bottom.
10) Select Ok.
11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows.
12) Close Devices and Printers Once the software and drivers are removed.
13) Restart the computer.
14) Download and install the software and drivers from here.

Step 3 Clean the ink cartridges -

1) On the printer control panel, swipe left on the display, and then touch Setup.
2) Touch Tools, and then touch Clean Cartridges.

To manually clean the area around the ink nozzles, we need -

  • A clean, lint-free cloth or a clean, dry cotton swab.
  • Distilled or bottled water.

1) Gently grasp the handles on either side of the printer, and then raise the ink cartridge access door until it locks into place.
The carriage moves to the center of the printer.
2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
3) Lift up the lid on the ink cartridge slot, and then pull up on the ink cartridge to remove it from the slot.
4) Hold the ink cartridge by its sides.
5) Lightly dampen a clean, lint-free cloth or swab with bottled or distilled water.
6) Clean the face and edges around the ink nozzle with the cloth or swab.
7) Wait for the cleaned area to dry before you continue (approximately 10 minutes).
8) With the nozzles toward the printer, insert the ink cartridge into its slot until it snaps into place.
9) Close the lid on the ink cartridge slot to secure the ink cartridge into place.
10) Repeat these steps to clean around the nozzles on the other ink cartridge.
11) Close the ink cartridge access door. Try to print.

Hope this helps!

Let me know how that goes.
