I bought a new iMac with Sonoma 14 operating system and when I wanted to connect my HP Deskjet F380 printer, in system settings it appears as connected, but it does not print anything. Is there a special driver for Sonoma 14? I don't want to throw the printer away. I would appreciate any solution. Thank you very much!

Hi @Nebley27,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Deskjet F380 All-in-One printer to your new iMac running macOS Sonoma 14, follow these steps:

Check for Compatible Drivers:

  • HP provides drivers for many of its printers. For macOS Sonoma 14, you should check HP's official support website to see if there are updated drivers available for your Deskjet F380.

Use Apple Software Update:

  • Sometimes, macOS includes built-in drivers for printers. Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners, select your Deskjet F380, and try printing a test page. If the print job still doesn’t go through, you might need to install or update the drivers manually.

Download and Install Drivers from HP:

  • Visit the HP Support website and search for the Deskjet F380. Look for macOS drivers compatible with Sonoma or a general macOS driver if a specific one isn’t available.

Try a Generic Printer Driver:

  • If specific drivers are not available, you might use a generic printer driver. Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners, select the Deskjet F380, and choose a generic HP driver from the list if available.

Reset the Printer System:

  • Sometimes resetting the printer system on your Mac can resolve connectivity issues. Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners, right-click (or Control-click) on the list of printers, and select Reset Printing System. After resetting, add your Deskjet F380 again.

Check Printer Compatibility:

  • Verify if your Deskjet F380 is officially supported on macOS Sonoma. If it’s an older model, it may not have updated drivers for the latest macOS versions. In such cases, you might need to consider using a third-party solution or a print server that could provide compatibility.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
