How can I set preferences to greyscale only to use black ink cartridge? 8710 printer and chromebook pixel computer. 

 

I ran out of yellow ink and other colors are low. I'm a college student who just needs the printer for pdf docs and don't care about quality. Just need to print to read something physical. Color ink is too expensive to keep replenishing just for black and white docs. Spent the extra money for an XL black ink cartridge but refuses to print without the yellow. So frustrating.  

 

Side question: I bought the printer about 6 months ago and prints extremely slow. I don't know if this is normal but it takes several minutes to print just one page. I've done a lot of research to try to fix the problem but it will work quicker at first but then resort back to going slow again.

Hi,

You may select Black & White within the print dialog of Chrome OS.

 

Please note that when any of the ink cartridges is empty, you can not print until replacing the empty cartridge for such a printer with 4 different ink cartridges:
