Hi there I've just moved homes and we're facing problems with our broadband provider. Is there any way I can set my printer to print without WiFi? I've tried tethering it to my phone and while it can get on the network it says it's not connected to the internet.

@Kahani,

Good Day.  A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the case regarding issues with printing as you are not able to print on a wireless network. Superb description, brilliant troubleshooting and terrific observations made before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂

To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this:

  • Do you have a Mac PC to which you can plug in a USB connection and make it work?
  • Did you try WIFI direct and connect the printer to your iPhone?

For now, try these steps:

  • If you want to print from your Mac then follow these steps:
  • Connect the printer to the Mac using a USB cable and add it as Apple AirPrint
  • Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.
  • Confirm AirPrint or Secure AirPrint displays in the Use or Print Using menu, and then click Add.
  • This should work for you.
  • You should be able to print from your Mac.

To print from your phone please perform these steps from this user guide link: https://hp.care/2u2PFdQ and follow instructions from page# 71-73

  • Also, refer to page# 5 to understand the control panel features and locate where the WIFI direct button or icon is located.
  • This should do the trick for you.

Please refer to this document https://hp.care/2KcW76i (HP Printers - Printing with Apple AirPrint (iOS) on how to use the phone to print using Apple AirPrint.

  • There is a section called “Wi-Fi Direct or HP wireless direct connection” This should do the trick for you. There is an associated YouTube Video also.

Please be informed that can print either from your phone or your computer at a time and not use both devices simultaneously as it is not connected to any network.

Perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. Good luck to you. I will keep a watch for your response.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care and have a blessed week ahead. 🙂
