Is there any way to change the size of the picture I want to print on my smartphone? I dont want the picture to take up the whole paper but I cant figure out how to make the picture smaller.

The answer to your question is Yes, you can, however, it depends on the application used to accomplish the task, also it would help a lot if you mention the OS on your smartphone, is it iOS or Android?

 

Here's the steps to select different paper size (for android)

HP recommends you confirm that the printer has the same size paper that you selected for the HP Print Service Plugin.

  1. Open the item you want to print, tap the menu icon , and then tap Print.

    A print preview screen displays.

  2. On the print preview screen, tap the down arrow to select a printer.

  3. Tap the down arrow  to open the print settings menu, and then tap the down arrow under Paper size to view the options.

Just adjust the paper guide at the back and the machine detects the size easy peasy
