I walked through every article I could find to clear a paper jam, but the printer won't get out of the screen with the message that there is still a paper jam.  There is no paper jam.  I see that others have had this same issue throughout the years.  Could you tell me how to do a hard reset?  Or, if anyone has had any luck with restoring their printer after this consistent error, would you please share a resolution?  I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi @KR2468,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Power Off:

  • Make sure the printer is powered on.
  • Remove the power cord from the back of the printer.

Remove Other Connections:

  • Unplug any other connections (such as USB cables) from the printer.

Wait:

  • Wait for about 60 seconds.

Reconnect:

  • Plug the power cord back into the printer.
  • Connect any other cables or connections that were removed.

Power On:

  • Turn on the printer.

If the paper jam error continues after performing a hard reset, you may need to try the following additional steps:

Check for Paper Residue:

  • Carefully inspect the printer for any small pieces of paper that may be stuck in the rollers or paper path.

Clean the Rollers:

  • Clean the paper feed rollers and the area around them to ensure they are free from debris.

Perform a Roller Cleaning:

  • Use the printer's maintenance menu to perform a roller cleaning.

I hope this helps.
