Hello, A few months ago I bought a replacement HP 301 XL cartridge for my printer. It is a true HP cartridge. Yesterday I tried to replace this into my printer but it would not work (ie it was not recognised). Today I bought another one and everything works fine so my previous cartridge must be defective. How do I get a refund for this?

Thank you for being a part of HP Forums,
It’ll be an honor to guide you through the steps needed to identify your concern and/or address your query.
Since this is a cartridge issue, please contact HP Support regarding the replacement.
Click on this link – http://www.hp.com/contacthp/
Select the product type.
Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.
Select the country from the drop-down.
You should see the HP Support number or Chat option listed. Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

Thanks for the reply. However I tried that. All I get is that my printer is out of warrenty and the site offers a fee-based solution (which is more than I paid for the ink cartridge). This is NOT a solution! The cartridge is at fault and I wanr to get a refund (for the INK not the printer)

We have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now. In order to resolve the issue we have to elevate the case to next level, I will share you few details through a private message.
Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,
It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.
