I just got an Officejet 8600 Plus at a garage sale for fairly cheap. I'll spare the backstory, but it seems in good condition and is clean inside. I got home and start setting it up and it keeps telling me the yellow ink is gone and I need to replace it. I can find no way to bypass it. The only button that exists is the one to watch the video. Normally I would buy ink if I was going to print with it, but I wasn't planning on printing with it. I was planning to use it as just a scanner. Yes, I could have bought a dedicated scanner but the printer was far cheaper than the scanners that show up when you search Google. How do I skip refilling the ink so I don't have to spend money on something I'm probably never going to use?

Well, basically this is an all-in-one and a printer before of all, without ink, the printer is in an error state, during an error state you will not likely be able to install the printer on your computer for scanning, the software installation will likely fail due to the error condition of the printer.
