I put a new Tri-color Cartridge in, and the printer began to print an image that was in que. It printed about 2 inches of the image and stopped. The window on the printer showed a blue background and the power symbol and B80B4696 in white. I have tried all the recommended fixes: turn off (won't turn off) unplug from wall, reset router, yuddie, yuddie , yuddie. Nothing.
I really need help.

Hi @Moo-Mom,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error code B80B4696 on your HP Envy Inspire 7955e printer is not a commonly documented error code, but it seems to indicate a hardware or firmware issue. Given that you've already tried several troubleshooting steps without success, here’s a more detailed approach to resolve the problem:
1. Perform a Hard Reset
Power Off the Printer:
- Unplug the printer from the power source.
- Wait at least 60 seconds to ensure all residual power is discharged.
Power On the Printer:
- Plug the printer back into the power source.
- Press the power button to turn it on. Ensure that the power button light comes on.
2. Check and Reinstall Cartridges
Verify Cartridge Installation:
- Open the printer’s cartridge access door.
- Remove the new Tri-color cartridge and any other cartridges installed.
- Inspect the cartridges for any protective tape or packaging that might have been missed.
- Reinstall the cartridges firmly in their slots. Ensure they click into place.
Clean Cartridge Contacts:
- Use a lint-free cloth to gently clean the copper contacts on the cartridges and the corresponding contacts inside the printer.
3. Update Firmware
Check for Firmware Updates:
- If the printer is able to connect to the internet or your computer, check if there are any firmware updates available. Firmware updates can sometimes resolve error codes and other issues.
Use HP Smart App or HP Website:
- Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
- Go to the printer settings or maintenance section to check for firmware updates.
- Alternatively, visit the HP Support website and search for your printer model to find firmware updates and installation instructions.
4. Inspect for Hardware Issues
Check for Paper Jams:
- Look inside the printer for any paper jams or obstructions. Clear any debris or jammed paper.
Check for Obstructed Print Head:
- Ensure that the print head or any other moving parts are not obstructed or jammed.
5. Restore Printer Settings to Factory Defaults
Factory Reset:
- Refer to your printer’s manual for instructions on performing a factory reset. This option is usually found in the printer’s settings menu under "Setup" or "Maintenance."
Access the Printer Menu:
- If the printer’s control panel is responsive, navigate to the settings menu and look for "Factory Reset" or "Restore Defaults."
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
