Hi, I have an office jet 6700 and only ever print in black ink. I know all over HP's site it says the printer won't print if any of the other cartridges are empty. I am looking for any hack, physical or software, to bypass this as to not continually pay for ink I do not want or use.

I don't care about potentially damaging the printer, I just want to print with the completely full black 932 XL cartridge I have and not spend an obscene amount of money on a new Magenta 933 that I have no use for.

You already know the answer - if you never or seldom print color you have the wrong printer.  The Officejet 6700 has a permanent, non-replaceable printhead that can be damaged if run dry.  If you want a printer that does not need color ink look for a laser printer, or a recent printer such as an Officejet 8040a or any of the Envy series printers that use a black and tri-color cartridge, and will happily work with only one cartridge installed.

If you want to risk damaging the printhead you may find a YouTube or other instruction on how to bypass the sensor.  I would not recommend this.  Please do not come back here to complain if at some point after doing a workaround you get a "printhead failure" message.
