I need to HIDE my printer on the network, my neighborhood does NOT need to know what hardware I have. The Virtual Agent is useless, and I do NOT see any answers. If there is no solution,
I did see a response pointing to this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03687861#AbT2, how the heck am I supposed to figure this out??? When I initially configured this printer, I think I figured it out but then I could NOT print to it.
This is 2020, if there is NO solution, then this is UNACCEPTABLE and DISAPPOINTED something as simple as this can't be done...

@Katkitty Welcome to HP Community!
I understand that you would like to hide the wireless printer on the network.
Actually, that is quite possible. You just have to adjust the security settings on the printer to do that. Just to to Devices and Printers, right-click on the unit, go to Printer Properties and under the "Security" tab you can restrict users on the same network.
This should enable you to control your printer with a little more discretion.

Hello @Praveen196 and thank you for replying. I remember performing someone's "solution" which was to go to EVERYONE and UNCHECK Print, but then I couldn't print or couldn't find it and, if I remember correctly, I had to reinstall the printer which I do NOT want to do again, I have no monitor on the PC in which it was installed on.
Your solution looks easy enough but I need detailed instructions. Since I cannot show you a print screen of my setup, I will list it the way it is presently:
Allow Print Manage This Printer Manage Documents Special Permissions
Everyone x
All App Packages x x
Account Unknown x x
Creator Owner x
Name of PC x x x
Administrators x x x
Thank you very much...

I understand your concerns.
I did some further research on this case. The below work around may help:
- Click on Start >> Devices and Printers.
- Right click on your printer and select "Printer properties".
- In the printer properties window, click on the "Security" tab.
- Under the security tab, select the user account that you do not wish to print from and select remove.
- Click on Apply and OK.
Example of the printer properties window:
Hope this helps. Good luck!
