My printer prints with to much colour. It doesn't correspond to my screen and other printers. It is too yellow and the ink ends too quickly. How do I adjust the printing colour?

To diagnose this issue, print and evaluate a diagnostic page and troubleshoot defects.

Follow these steps to print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page from the HP printer control panel.

  1. Load plain white paper into the input tray.

  2. On the printer control panel, press and hold the Power button, press the Cancel () button seven times, press the Resume () button twice, and then release the Power button. The page prints.

If you find any defect on the report, clean and align the printhead

If you don't find any defects, it may be a settings issue.

Try different types of paper.

Select the correct paper type and Best print quality in the print settings.

Let me know the outcome.

Hi!

Thank you for your suggestion. There were no defects on the diagnostic page. It must be a settings issue but I can't find anywhere where I can adjust the colour hue, or actually, it is probably the saturation I need to adjust. I really need to take down the yellow in my printouts. Everything just becomes too colourful.

Ihave tried different papers and they give the same result. Where can I adjust the colour saturation?

@MarieSkoog

You need to adjust the colour saturation on the application you are printing from. There is no option to adjust the adjust the colour saturation in the printer settings.

To change the print settings, follow the steps below:

  • Insert the paper print-side down along the right edge of the main tray.
  • On the File menu in your software application, click Print .
  • Make sure the printer you want to use is selected.
  • To change settings, click the option that opens the printer Properties dialog box. Depending on your software application, this option might be called Properties , Options , Printer Setup , Printer , or Preferences .
  • On the Paper/Quality tab, select the appropriate photo paper type from the Media drop-down menu. NOTE: Maximum DPI is only supported for color printing on HP Premium Plus Photo Papers and HP Advanced Photo Papers.
  • Click Advanced, and then select Best or Maximum DPI from the Output Quality drop-down menu.

If issue persists, try printing from different application like MS Paint.

If you have the same issue printing from another application, uninstall and reinstall the printer driver.

Use the method below to remove all existing print drivers installed on your PC:
1.) In Windows, search for and open Apps & features.
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Printers &Scanners
5.) In the Printers &Scanners windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
Once the drivers are removed, to download and install the software and driver: Click here

But if I print from my computer to another printer, the colour is ok. It looks as the things I see on my screen. It must be something wrong with my HP printer.

@MarieSkoog

Since the Print Quality Diagnostic Page is normal, this is not a hardware issue.

Did you try all the steps suggested?

Did you check the print settings and try printing from MS Paint?

Did you reinstall the printer driver?
