Hello, I purchased an HP printer years ago and told myself never again. Well, here I am again having difficulty using refilled cartridges. Message: The indicated is an "older generation cartridge that does not work on your machine" which translates to HP's desire to corner the market on cartridges for their printers. Looks like they pulled this trick each fall from 2016 forward. No fixes are out there yet for my printer.
I just wrote a reply to this post. Where, pray tell, is it? Did you not want me to report on the fact that the supposed Firmware update and workaround given to me by HP was really the exact one used for my setup on 10/11? The same one that gave me the error message in the first place? Here is that response:
Response:
Here is the link to update the firmware as a workaround for this issue https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-5200-all-in-one-printer-series/1409573...
Did you also not want me to report that I received no response when I messaged back about the above? Will this post be lost as well? I am taking a copy of it just in case.
HP please, some of us are mere peons trying to get by with a cheap printer. Do you really have to make our lives H***? I don't drive and taking the bus way out to Costco or other Office Supply stores is a 2 hour round trip.
