How to print just a selection

I had an epson and hooked up HP all in one 515 last night.  I can selection from microsoft word documents, but the option is not available to print selection from my emails.  Do I have to cut and paste everything to microsoft word to print just the part I want?

Also how do I put the printer and scan icons on my desktop?

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the printer issue.

To better assist you - 

1) What's the operating system installed on the computer? 

2) What's the email client that you are trying to print from? If yo are trying to print from outlook, you may try these steps.

To create the shortcut for your printer, try these steps -

1) In the search box, type the name of your printer.

2) Click on Open File Location.

3) Right click on the name of your printer and then click on Send To > Desktop (Create Shortcut).
