Error 4 on the HP Smart Tank 750 typically indicates a problem with the printer's carriage or ink system. Here are detailed steps to resolve this issue:

Step 1: Check for Obstructions

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Open the printer's front cover and inspect the carriage area for any obstructions, such as paper jams or debris.
  3. Gently move the carriage to the center if it is stuck, ensuring it moves freely.

Step 2: Reset the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Wait for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  3. Check if the error persists.

Step 3: Clean the Ink Cartridges

  1. Open the printer's front cover and remove the ink cartridges.
  2. Use a lint-free cloth to clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer.
  3. Reinsert the cartridges and close the cover.

Step 4: Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  3. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
