I went to the printer EWS. A bunch of stuff there is locked. How do I unlock those. I tried entering my normal email user and password and that wasn't what it wanted. I tried a few other likely suspects, but nothing was accepted.
How to I reset the password? (assuming that these features CAN be unlocked via EWS)

Welcome to the HP support community.
Restore Network Settings to reset EWS page.
- From the home screen of your printer control panel, touch the Wireless icon . Touch the Setup icon . Touch Restore Network Defaults or Restore Network Settings, and then touch Yes to confirm your selection.
Let me know how it goes.

Restoring network settings will reset the EWS log in ID and password as well.
By default, the user name is admin and leave the password blank.
Let me know how it goes.

Didn't seem to work.
With further searching for this problem, I see that others have tried resetting the network and it didn't put the user and password back to default either.
Some were sent special instructions to further reset in a private message. Can you do that for me?

Thanks.

I am sending you a private message with the steps to reset the printer. Please check the mailbox icon at the top-right corner of this screen.
I hope this helps resolve this issue completely.

If it is a hardware problem, what hardware is the problem and how can it be replaced (other than buying an entirely new machine)?
Seems odd that a user and password would be able to be blocked by a hardware failure.
