Hi @Spookie33,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the error message you're encountering with your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer typically indicates a problem with the ink system. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Restart the Printer

  • Turn off the printer using the power button.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Turn the printer back on.

2. Check the Ink Cartridges

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Ensure all ink cartridges are properly installed and seated correctly.
  • Remove and reinsert each cartridge to ensure they are properly connected.
  • Close the ink cartridge access door and check if the error message persists.

3. Clean the Ink Cartridges and Printhead

  • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
  • Open the ink cartridge access door and remove the ink cartridges.
  • Clean the electrical contacts on the ink cartridges with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
  • Clean the electrical contacts on the printhead inside the printer.
  • Reinstall the ink cartridges and close the ink cartridge access door.
  • Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.

4. Reset the Printer

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer.

5. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure your printer firmware is up-to-date. Check for firmware updates on the HP Support website and install any available updates.

6. Check for Paper Jams

  • Make sure there are no paper jams or obstructions inside the printer. Open all access doors and remove any paper or debris.
