Hi @Spookie33,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the error message you're encountering with your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer typically indicates a problem with the ink system. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
1. Restart the Printer
- Turn off the printer using the power button.
- Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the printer and the wall outlet.
- Turn the printer back on.
2. Check the Ink Cartridges
- Open the ink cartridge access door.
- Ensure all ink cartridges are properly installed and seated correctly.
- Remove and reinsert each cartridge to ensure they are properly connected.
- Close the ink cartridge access door and check if the error message persists.
3. Clean the Ink Cartridges and Printhead
- Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
- Open the ink cartridge access door and remove the ink cartridges.
- Clean the electrical contacts on the ink cartridges with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
- Clean the electrical contacts on the printhead inside the printer.
- Reinstall the ink cartridges and close the ink cartridge access door.
- Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.
4. Reset the Printer
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait for 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
- Turn on the printer.
5. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Ensure your printer firmware is up-to-date. Check for firmware updates on the HP Support website and install any available updates.
6. Check for Paper Jams
- Make sure there are no paper jams or obstructions inside the printer. Open all access doors and remove any paper or debris.
