Hp Pavilion 23
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My recently purchased HP Envy 5020 has started to print a fine vertical black line on the left hand side of the second page onwards of print jobs.

This is from any source, ie word, accounts package, email etc. Nothing on single page print jobs, just on second and subsequent pages.

It doesn't do it if i copy two or more pages.

I print through the HP App, couldn't get the printer to connect with any downloaded software/drivers.

I noticed the same fault on the forum for an Envy 5030 late last year. Any thoughts?

Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips. Thank you for posting your query. I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

Since the copy works fine, I suspect this is a software issue. To fix this issue, update printer firmware and try installing full feature printer driver.

Solution 1: Update printer firmware directly from the printer. For instruction: Click here

Solution 2: Use the method below to remove all existing print drivers installed on your PC:
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
Once the drivers are removed, to download and install the software and driver: Click here
