HP Envy 7645 All in One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Hp Envy 7645 All in One Printer gives me problems with refilled ink from Costco.

"Remove and reinstall the indicated ink cartirdge, making sure it is correctly installed and then click ok"

I constantly comes up when i try to print.    I went and got a newly refilled black ink cartidge, reinstalled it and

color cartridge and still getting this message.    Cant get anything printed.

Looked at "firmware" update info on HP site but it does not list the printer as and ink cartridge type "62"

as one being impactecd by "For non-hp original ink users an optional firmware update to remove dynamic security is now available for select Officejet, Officejet Pro, Officejet ProX printers."

Help please

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Do you have the same Printer too? If yes, please follow the below steps. If no, please help us with the Printer name.

You can refill your cartridges or use re-manufactured cartridges, but you may run into problems. HP will not guarantee the functionality of those ink cartridges.

However, let's try to reset the Printer here:

Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

  1. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  2. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  3. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  4. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  5. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  6. NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
  7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  9. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

If the issue persists, please perform the remaining steps from this document: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-envy-7640-e-all-in-one-printer-series/6617267/model/6779508/...

Let me know if this helps.

I'm about to throw out this HP printer....I should be able to use whatever cartridges I want to....sometimes I buy HP and sometimes I buy refills from Costco.  I've tried unplugging, and a few other things to no avail.  Please let me know how to fix this.

@CoriF,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details and I would appreciate if you could, perhaps elaborate on your concern.

  • What is the exact model for your printer?
  • What is the operating system you are using?
  • What is the exact issue you are facing?
  • Are you getting any error message?
  • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?

Look forward to hearing from you and you have a great day!

Take care.

Cheers!

It’s an envy 7640 - yes, I’ve tried everything - I run Windows 7 - when I use the Costco refilled cartridges (that are genuine hp cart I’ve purchased myself), the printer will keep saying they need to be replaced.

Ive unplugged from the wall and waited 30 sec...tried everything I saw online.

Please try these steps - HP Inkjet Printers - Ink Cartridge Errors

The refill inks are not HP genuine inks. If the issue still persists, I'd suggest you check with the store for a replacement.

Thanks!

I did all the steps up to using brand new cartridges - I heard you can put a tiny piece of tape over one of the copper connectors. I want to spend $7 not $50 for ink.

I have envy 7645. We recently  put both black and color cartridges refilled by Costco. Now the printer does not work at all, even the scanning function. Any help will be appreciated.

Thank you
