@Sissy2014, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
A blinking Tri-Color light with an "E" on the screen of your HP DeskJet 2852e printer usually indicates an issue with the tri-color cartridge. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Reseat the Cartridge

  • Open the printer's ink cartridge access door.
  • Remove the tri-color cartridge and check for any protective tape still on the copper contacts or nozzles.
  • Reinsert the cartridge properly, ensuring it clicks into place.
  • Close the door and check if the error persists.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it.
  • Use a lint-free cloth or a soft, dry microfiber cloth.
  • Gently wipe the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge and the corresponding contacts inside the printer.
  • Allow it to dry for a few minutes, then reinstall the cartridge.

Check for Compatibility

Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait 2-3 minutes.
  • Plug it back in, turn it on, and check if the blinking stops.

Use HP Printer Utility (HP Smart App)

  • Open HP Smart on your computer or mobile device.
  • Check if the app displays an error message related to the ink cartridge.
  • Follow any on-screen troubleshooting instructions.

Try a Different Cartridge

  • If possible, try using another tri-color cartridge to see if the problem is with the cartridge itself.
  • If the error disappears with a different cartridge, your new cartridge might be defective.

Check for Firmware Updates

  • Sometimes, firmware updates fix cartridge recognition issues.
  • Go to HP Support and check if a firmware update is available for your printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
