Product: Hp 4500

I have a hp 4500 I cannot seem to find the compatible ink. It seems to be working only with  colored ink 61xl once insert 61xl or 61 it is saying that cartridge not compatible. How do you use the printer at this point I'm losing money because the stores aren't taking the cartridge back. Which inks are best for this printer color and black? It is only running on color ink and this is not an option for me.

What exactly is the error message you see when you install a black HP 61 or 61XL cartridge in your Envy 4500 printer?  The troubleshooting steps in the document here may help.  The HP 61 or  HP 61XL cartridges are the correct cartridges for both black and color in your Envy 4500.  If the error is the result of a third party cartridge see the document here.
