Does anyone in the community know of a class action I can join against HP in the US for forcing me to sign up with instant ink?
I have been a customer of instant ink for many years , then decided to go on my own because of the cost. I stopped my subscription and HP stopped my printer. Here is what I have done to try to solve the problem.
1. I removed the instant ink cartridges that I already paid for and put in my own black ink cartridge.
2. I reset the factory defaults on the printer.
3. I removed the printer driver, then reinstalled
4. Reconnected to my wifi
5. confirmed my computer is connected to the printer
When I try to even print a test page , it will not print unless I run the trouble shooter, in the middle of running the trouble shooter, it will start printing again, but only for that print job. I have to run trouble shooter to get the printer to print.
I called support and they told me there must be something wrong with my network??????????????? I told them there was nothing wrong and this only happened after I stopped my subscriptions. I asked for a supervisors name and number. It was Shing Schan at 855-785-2777. I was told he would call me when he was not busy. Its been 2 days, BTW the person I was speaking to hung up on me when I asked his contact information.
I have spent hours on trying to fix this, I have bought scores of HP products and don't deserve to be treated like this.
If anyone knows of a lawyer that is doing a class action lawsuit against these people, Please give me the contact information. I Know this must be happening to other people.
Thank you.
PS. I now have to go out and get an Epson printer, because I don't trust that HP has poisoned my system against all HP products.

Hi @minggao1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see that you are facing an issue with your printer after cancelling the instant ink service.
When you cancel the service:
- You can continue printing with Instant Ink supplies until the end of your current billing cycle.
- At the end of the billing cycle, you must remove Instant Ink cartridges and purchase Original HP Ink or Toner directly from the retailer of your choice to continue printing. Instant Ink cartridges only work in enrolled printers.
- Your final monthly charge comes at the end of the billing cycle.
- The Paper Add-on service ends with your Instant Ink service.
Note: HP Instant Ink is based on the pages you print, not cartridges or shipments you receive.
Please follow the steps below to to fix the issue.
A) Perform a power drain
1) Take out the cartridges
2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.
5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.
Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges
B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.
C) If the issue still persists, refer to the steps on this link to restore factory defaults.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day
