My HP Envy 6000 printer produces extra copies with copies set to 1. This occurs when printing from my iPhone 15 iOS 17.6.1. As the first copy is printing a message appears on the iPhone 'Printer is busy cancel print job or try again.' The original print job completes and another starts up-I've only been able to stop this by turning off the printer-obviously not feasible since I don't normally stand over it. This resulted in an additional charge in my HP Instant ink subscription. I spent 5 hours trouble shooting with ho support-applied a firmware update and confirmed ios is at the lasted release.

Hi @Pbo28,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Envy 6000 printer is producing extra copies when printing from your iPhone 15, even when you’ve set the copies to 1, and the issue is compounded by error messages and unintended print jobs, it can be quite frustrating. Here’s a comprehensive guide to troubleshoot and resolve this problem:
**1. Check Printer and iPhone Settings
Verify Print Settings on iPhone:
- Open the document or image you want to print.
- Tap the Share icon or Print option.
- Ensure that Copies is set to 1.
- Check if there are any additional settings or options that might be affecting the print job.
Review Printer Settings:
- On the printer’s control panel or through the HP Smart app, verify that there are no settings or defaults that might be causing multiple copies to print.
**2. Update and Reset Printer
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Since you’ve already applied a firmware update, confirm that it completed successfully and that there were no errors during the update.
Reset Printer Settings:
- Perform a basic reset on your printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- This can sometimes resolve unexpected behavior by restoring default settings.
**3. Reconfigure Printer on iPhone
- On your iPhone, go to Settings > Printers.
- Remove the HP Envy 6000 from the list of printers.
- Re-add the printer by selecting Add Printer and following the setup prompts.
- Restart your iPhone to ensure it’s running smoothly and to clear any temporary issues.
**4. Check for Print Job Conflicts
- On your iPhone, check if there are any pending print jobs in the queue. Sometimes, old print jobs can cause conflicts.
- Go to Settings > Printers > Print Queue to view and cancel any lingering jobs.
- If you’re using a Mac or Windows PC, check the print queue for your HP Envy 6000 and clear any stuck or pending jobs.
**5. Check for Network Issues
- Ensure that both your iPhone and printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- A mismatch in network connections can sometimes cause printing issues.
- Restart your router and any network extenders to ensure a stable connection.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
