Hi @Bozire

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The Error 77 on your HP LaserJet M236sdn generally points to an issue with the fuser unit. This error can happen if there's a problem with the fuser or if the printer is unable to communicate with it correctly. The fuser is responsible for bonding the toner to the paper, so a malfunction in this area can prevent printing.

Steps to resolve Error 77 on your HP LaserJet M236sdn:

1. Turn off and Unplug the Printer

  • Power off the printer and unplug it from the electrical outlet.
  • Wait about 30 seconds to 1 minute. This allows the printer to reset and clear any temporary errors.
  • Plug it back in, turn it on, and check if the error still appears.

2. Check for Paper Jams

  • Open the printer access doors and carefully check the paper path for any paper jams, especially near the fuser area.
  • Remove any paper carefully without tearing it, and check both the input tray and output tray.
  • Ensure there are no small scraps of paper or debris inside the printer that could be causing the issue.

3. Inspect the Fuser Unit

  • Error 77 is often caused by a malfunction in the fuser unit. Look for the fuser inside the printer, and check for the following:
    • Burn marks on the fuser unit (which could indicate overheating).
    • Excess toner buildup or any debris.
    • Physical damage or wear and tear.
  • If the fuser is visibly damaged, you may need to replace it.

4. Reset the Printer

  • A hard reset can sometimes resolve errors like Error 77.
    • Turn off the printer.
    • Unplug it from the power source for at least 30 seconds.
    • Plug it back in and turn it on.

5. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Sometimes, a firmware update can resolve software-related errors.
    • Visit the HP Support website and search for any available firmware updates for your HP LaserJet M236sdn.
    • Follow the instructions to download and install any updates that are available.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
