HI @mwcooter,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When your HP Smart Tank 7602 printer is stuck on a loading screen with a solid amber light after attempting to reset it, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
1. Power Cycle the Printer
Turn Off and Unplug: Completely power off the printer and disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet.
Wait: Leave the printer unplugged for at least 1-2 minutes to ensure all internal components have fully powered down.
Plug In and Power On: Reconnect the power cord to the printer and plug it back into the electrical outlet.
Turn On: Power on the printer and observe if it progresses past the loading screen.
2. Check for Obstructions and Paper Jams
Inspect Printer: Open the printer cover and check for any obstructions such as paper jams, foreign objects, or loose parts inside the printer.
Remove Obstructions: Carefully remove any visible obstructions that may be hindering the printer's functionality.
3. Perform a Hard Reset
- Hard Reset: If the power cycle didn’t resolve the issue, perform a hard reset:
- Make sure the printer is powered on.
- Disconnect the power cord from the printer while it is still on.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Press and hold the power button on the printer for about 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Reconnect the power cord to the printer and turn it on.
4. Update Firmware
Check for Firmware Updates: Visit the HP support website, enter your printer model (HP Smart Tank 7602), and look for any available firmware updates.
Download and Install: If updates are available, download them and follow the instructions provided to install them on your printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
