Hi @Jonomike,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To remove the small piece of paper stuck inside your HP Smart Tank 5000 printer, follow these steps.

  • Turn off the printer: Make sure the printer is turned off to avoid any potential damage or injury.
  • Open the printer cover: Locate the area where the paper is stuck and open the printer cover carefully. Most printers have multiple access points for paper jams.
  • Locate and remove the paper: Use a flashlight if needed to locate the paper scrap. Gently pull out the paper with both hands. Try to avoid tearing it further.
  • Check for any remaining scraps: After removing the paper, check for any remaining bits or shreds of paper that might still be inside the printer. Use tweezers or compressed air to remove any remaining debris.
  • Close the printer cover: Once you're sure all the paper has been removed, carefully close the printer cover.
  • Turn on the printer: Turn on the printer and check if the error message indicating a paper jam is cleared.
  • Test the printer: Print a test page to ensure that the printer is functioning properly and that there are no additional paper jams.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
