My printer works fine at my office.  I brought it home and tried to connect it to my home wi-fi. It found the router and made a wireless connection OK. All my devices recognise that the printer is there (iPad, MacBook, Windows PC) but none of them will print.  After a long delay there's a message saying that the device could not connect to the printer.

The Wireless Network Test Results print out shows no problems.  I tried resetting the printer to factory defaults - made no difference.  I took it back to the office and it still works fine there.  Any suggestions?

OK, I got the message but the instructions didn't apply to my printer.

However, I've now solved the problem myself, which, as I suspected, concerned the IP address.  Using the touch screen on the printer, I went into Set-up/Wireless/IP Settings and there was an option to change the IP address.  I chose 'Automatic' and it came up with a different IP address that is compatible with the router.  Hey presto, all my devices now print (except the Windows computer where I followed the instructions to delete the printer but I'll sort that out later!).

I should think the problem was that the printer had retained the IP address from my office network (hence it still worked there) and needs this reset to produce an address for the new router.  Simple when you know how!

Greetings @wgc131

Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post.

I understand that you have connected the printer to your home network and are unable to print from any of the devices at home.

Kudos to you for trying to troubleshoot the issue on your own and providing the information in such good detail.

After the printer was connected to your home network, did you reinstall the printer software on your computers?

Whenever you changes the network on the printer, the printer needs to configured on all the devices again after uninstalling the software.

Note: HP Printers do not work or connect to 5Ghz networks. If you are using a dual band router, please give different names to 2.4Ghz and 5 Ghz networks and connect the printer to the 2.4Ghz network.

When you are using the printer at home and have connected the printer to your router at your home. (Print a Network configuration report from the printer to make sure it is connected to you home network, 2.4 GHz network only.)

Please uninstall the printer software on your computers (Windows and MAC) and reinstall the printer software again.

For Windows computer, please follow the procedure mentioned below.

Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)

Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)

Go to devices and printers, select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.

Click on print server properties.

You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there, if any.

Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.

Restart the PC.

Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,

Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.

It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files, ignore them).

If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.

Restart the PC again.

Download the latest full feature driver from www.hp.com/drivers and install it on the computer.

Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.

For assistance in uninstalling and reinstalling the printer on a MAC computer, follow the procedure mentioned below.

(Have the printer disconnected from the computer during uninstallation.)

HP Printers - Uninstalling HP Printer Software (Mac)

Once you have uninstalled the printer software, reset the printing system.

HP Printers - Resetting the Printing System (Mac)

Visit www.hp.com/drivers to download and install the printer software for your printer

For your iPad, I would like to know the procedure you are using to print from your iPad.

If the printer is listed, please select the option to forget the device in Settings and configure it again.

Thanks for this suggestion.  As I expected, it didn't work.  I uninstalled everything as suggested on my Windows PC, then attempted to re-install the printer using the downloaded driver.  But, of course, the driver couldn't find the printer since this was the problem in the first place.

The message reads 'The IP address entered is either incorrect or it is from a different wireless network that has the same name as your network'.  The IP address is the correct address as displayed on the wireless set-up of the printer and  there is only one wireless network with the name of my network.   So now I'm back to where I was before.

I don't believe the problem is with the configuration  of my printer on my devices - more likely, it's some incompatibility between the printer and my router.  I'd be grateful for further suggestions.
