In 2015 I bought an HP officejet 8620 printer. Yesterday I had a problem that the print head was not aligned or not found. I rang HP service in Israel and was told to take the printer to the repair center. Today I took the printer to the repair center and was told that it is HP policy NOT TO SUPPLY SPARES as the printer is no longer supported. So I have a good quality printer which needs a replacement part with new ink cartridges - which wont print because HP doesnt supply the parts. Is there anything I can do before I have to buy a new printer?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Let's try to reset the Printer here:
Reset the product
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
- Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
- Turn the printer on. HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
Also, try connecting the Printer to a different wall outlet directly.
Also, try a firmware update: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02919168
Let me know if this helps.

Restetting the printer, unplugging, and checking firmware (which was the latest),. did not help.
I rang HP support here in Israel, they told me to bring the printer in for reapir to the repair center. At the repair center I was informed that HP was not sending replacement parts for the printer as a matter of policy. I didnt understand why HP support in Israel was not informed of this.
As I urgently needed a new printer, I bought an HpOffice jet Pro 8023 - which IMHO is not as good as the hp 8620 - which is no longer available,
