HP Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-in-One Printer - H711n
Microsoft Windows 11

I am replacing the print head on HP Officejet 6700 Premium All in one H711n. I noticed that the new PH did not have any white cartridge guides. Do I need them? How do I get another set? How do I remove them from old PH?

Hi @Devin1960,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The white cartridge guides in an HP Officejet printer are important for proper cartridge alignment and installation. If your new print head did not come with these guides, you should try to transfer them from your old print head to the new one. Here's how you can do it.

  • Remove the Old Print Head: Make sure your printer is turned off and unplugged from the power source. Open the printer cover to access the print head. Depending on your model, you might need to lift the latch or release a lock mechanism to remove the old print head.
  • Locate the White Cartridge Guides: The white cartridge guides are usually attached to the bottom of the print head. Carefully examine the old print head to identify these guides.
  • Detach the White Cartridge Guides: Gently pry or slide the white cartridge guides off the old print head. Be cautious not to break them during this process, as they are delicate plastic parts.
  • Install the New Print Head: Align the new print head in the same position where the old one was. Make sure it clicks into place and is securely seated.
  • Attach the White Cartridge Guides: Slide or snap the white cartridge guides onto the new print head in the same positions they were on the old print head. They should fit snugly.
  • Close the Printer Cover: Once the new print head is in place, close the printer cover and make sure it locks or latches securely.
  • Power On and Align Cartridges: Plug the printer back in, turn it on, and follow any on-screen instructions to align the cartridges. Proper alignment is crucial for print quality.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
