When I try to print I keep getting the following error message:-
"HP Universal Print Application"
"Unable to print, Rendering failed"
Print job unable to print. Please check if the printer driver is up to date and configured correctly
When I try to check drivers, it just seems to be full software replacement including drivers.
I don't really want to faff about with all that if I can avoid it.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Here's a step-by-step solution for the "Unable to print, Rendering failed" error on your HP Jet Pro 8120e series printer running Windows 11:
The error typically appears when using the HP Universal Print Application and is often linked to:
- Corrupted or outdated drivers
- Conflicts with recent Windows updates
- Issues with the HP Smart app or print spooler
Recommended Fix Steps
Uninstall the HP Universal Print Driver
- Press Windows + R, type appwiz.cpl, and press Enter.
- Locate HP Universal Print Driver or HP Smart, right-click and choose Uninstall.
- Restart your PC.
Remove the Printer from Windows
- Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select your HP Jet Pro 8120e and click Remove.
Reinstall Using HP Smart App
- Download the latest version of HP Smart from the Microsoft Store.
- Open HP Smart and add your printer again.
- Let it automatically install the correct drivers and firmware.
Update Windows
Ensure your system is fully updated:
- Go to Settings > Windows Update and install all available updates.
Alternative Fix (If Above Fails)
Some users resolved the issue by doing a clean reinstall:
- Completely uninstall all HP software.
- Restart PC.
- Download the full driver package from the HP 8120e Support Page.
- Install and follow on-screen instructions.
I hope this helps.
