Hi @ArpitaBorah,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with the HP DeskJet 1050 All-in-One Printer typically requires both a black and tri-color cartridge to function properly. If one of the cartridges is missing, the printer may not allow printing, as it relies on both cartridges for various printing tasks, including aligning and calibration.
Steps to resolve the issue:
Check if Single-Cartridge Mode is Supported:
- Some HP printers support "Single Cartridge Mode," which allows printing with just one cartridge installed. Check your printer manual or the HP support website to confirm if this mode is supported for the HP DeskJet 1050.
Install Both Cartridges:
- If your printer doesn't support single-cartridge mode, ensure that both the black and tri-color cartridges are installed, even if one of them is empty or nearly empty. The printer will usually allow printing in this case.
Check Cartridge Compatibility:
- Ensure the cartridges you are using are compatible with the HP DeskJet 1050. The compatible cartridges are typically HP 61 or HP 802 (depending on the region).
Clean the Cartridge Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the cartridges and gently clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
- Reinstall the cartridges and turn the printer back on.
Use HP's Print and Scan Doctor Tool: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Download and run HP's diagnostic tool to troubleshoot and resolve cartridge-related issues. HP Print and Scan Doctor.
Reset the Printer:
- Disconnect the power cord while the printer is on.
- Wait for 60 seconds, then reconnect the power cord and turn the printer on. Check if the issue persists.
Replace the Missing Cartridge:
- If the tri-color cartridge is missing or damaged, consider purchasing a new one to restore full functionality.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
