I cleared a paper jam which but now it won't print. It tells me to load plain paper in the tray, but there is plain paper in the tray. I press ok but it's on a loop. I hear the printer printing but the load plain paper comes on the screen again.

Hi @Ambimom,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP ENVY Photo 7858 might be experiencing a few issues following the paper jam. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem.
- Check Paper Tray and Rollers: Make sure the paper is loaded correctly in the tray and that the paper guides are aligned properly. Sometimes, misaligned guides can trigger false paper error messages.
- Inspect for Residual Paper: Even after clearing a paper jam, small bits of paper might be stuck inside the printer. Open all accessible panels and carefully check for any remaining paper scraps or debris.
- Reset the Printer: Perform a soft reset by turning off the printer, unplugging it from the power source, waiting for about 60 seconds, and then plugging it back in. Turn the printer on and see if the issue persists.
- Check for Software Updates: Ensure that your printer's firmware and drivers are up to date. Visit the HP website to download and install any available updates for your printer model.
- Run Printer Diagnostics: Some HP printers have built-in diagnostic tools that can help identify and resolve issues. Check the printer's control panel or the HP Smart app for any diagnostic options.
- Paper Type and Size: Confirm that the paper type and size settings in the printer's menu match the paper loaded in the tray. Sometimes, mismatched settings can cause errors.
- Printer Settings and Configuration: Go to the printer's settings and check if there are any errors or warnings that need addressing. You might find more detailed error messages or suggestions for resolution.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
