Hi @Brian5419,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out to HP Support. We understand you're seeing two black lines when using the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) to copy or scan, but not when using the scanner glass. We’re here to guide you through a quick solution.

Step-by-Step: Clean the ADF Scan Strip

  1. Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord.
  2. Open the ADF lid and locate the narrow glass strip on the left side of the main scanner glass.
  3. Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with glass cleaner or distilled water.
  4. Gently wipe the entire length of the ADF strip.
  5. Also, clean the white plastic backing strip above the glass (under the ADF lid).
  6. Dry the strip with a clean, dr,y lint-free cloth.
  7. Close the ADF lid, plug the printer back in, and power it on.

Tip: Hold the glass at an angle to the light to spot tiny smudges or specks that might be causing the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
