HP DeskJet 2655 All-in-One Printer

Connected as per instructions, inserted new cartridges.  The machine lights up yet it will not print anthing other than alignment sheets, instructions sheets, etc.  I checked to be certain the network was correct.  I even uplugged everything for 10 minutes and tried again.  I have been three months without a printer.  I need help.

@LawnGal, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Let’s walk through this carefully: You said your HP DeskJet 2655 can scan and can print alignment/instruction sheets, but won't print regular documents — even though you're connected to the correct Wi-Fi, using new cartridges, and already tried power resets.

That gives me a strong clue: The printer's hardware is fine. It's a communication issue between the printer and your computer/phone, especially for "regular" print jobs.

Here’s What You Should Try Next (and Why Each Step Matters):

Make Sure Printer Is Set As Default

  • Go to your computer's Printers & Scanners settings.
  • Find your DeskJet 2655.
  • Right-click → Set as Default Printer.➔ Sometimes after moving, Windows/Mac switches the printer to "offline" mode or another wrong printer.

Clear the Print Queue

  • Open Printers & Scanners again.
  • Click your DeskJet 2655.
  • Choose Open queue.
  • Cancel/delete all pending jobs.➔ A stuck/corrupt print job blocks new prints.

Reinstall the Printer Driver

  • Fully uninstall the printer from Printers & Scanners.
  • Then reinstall it using HP Smart app (not just Windows auto-detect).
  • Let HP Smart "discover" and set it up fresh.➔ When you moved, your IP address probably changed. A stale driver can’t "see" the printer properly anymore unless reinstalled.

Turn Off Wi-Fi Direct Temporarily

  • On the printer's control panel (buttons), press and hold the Wi-Fi and Cancel buttons together for 3 seconds.
  • This turns off Wi-Fi Direct (which can interfere if you're trying to print via home Wi-Fi).➔ Otherwise, your computer could be trying to send prints to the wrong "local-only" network.

Print a Network Configuration Page

  • Press the Information button (i) + Wi-Fi button together.
  • A Network Configuration Page will print.
  • Check:
    • Printer IP address: Should be something like 192.168.x.x.
    • Status: Should say Connected.

Manually Add Printer by IP

If normal steps fail:

  • Add a new printer manually using its IP address (from the Network Page).
  • Go to Add PrinterThe printer that I want isn't listedAdd a printer using TCP/IP address or hostname.➔ This method talks directly to your printer even if Windows is confused.

Firmware Update

  • In HP Smart, check if there's a Firmware Update available for your printer.
  • HP sometimes fixes weird wireless printing bugs this way.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
